Three Edinburgh based improv noise acts playing to launch the Diversions film festival running from 8th - 11th May at the Filmhouse.

Bristo Hall (upstairs from the Forest cafe) 8th May. Free entry. Open from 8.30pm. First act 9.15.

DORA DOLL
Former sister of hugely influential Blackburn based Prick Decay and now one half of Edinburgh duo Hockyfrilla, Dora Doll has been causing havoc onstage and off since the early nineties. In this rare solo performance expect turntable, toys, tapes and voice.

'Spurts of hijacked voltage served wi sloppy spools o regurgitape.' One man show Euan Curry, head of label Unverified Records and brain scrambler in Muscletusk gies you summit to find round corners.

USURPER AND WINSOR DAEMON BEAST
'Broken instrument chumps ' Ali Roberston (Giant Tank) and Malcy Duff (Missing Twin Publishing) have been bashing their heads together in Usurper since 2003. Started as a disabled instrument rock band the
sound has expanded and shrunk. Winsor Daemon Beast is another man from Muscletusk, on traps, Daniel
Rutter. Horror influenced frightening noise, Rutter will become the beast before your eyes. This is the first collaboration between these three bubbling brains.

OUTSIDE THE BOX: A HISTORY OF PLAYING WITH FRAMES
6pm Filmhouse

A mini-historical overview from the 1920s to the 1960s ending with some recent films made in France. Radical animation from Dada to Fluxus to Lettrism, material and structural films from the 70s, contemporary experiments with chemistry and printing machines. 86 years of filmmaking in under two hours.

Introduced by Pip Chodorov, filmmaker and distributor of experimental films, active in several film cooperatives and co-founder of L’Abominable, a do-it-yourself artist-run film lab in Paris.
